Short answer

Foreign nationals who will stay in Türkiye longer than their visa or visa exemption allows, or longer than 90 days, must obtain a residence permit ("ikamet izni"). Turkish law provides six types of permit; the most common is the short-term residence permit. Applications are started online through the e-İkamet system, documents are submitted to the provincial migration office on the appointment day, and a decision is due within 90 days of a complete file.
